Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Maybe someday I'll have something noteworthy to post in this section. I have only completed three 5ks and a 5 miler; all at an average pace somewhere in the 9:00-9:30min/mile range

Painter's Half 2010 - 2:03:54

Short-Term Running Goals:

Painter's Half Marathon - would like to keep an average pace of 9:00min/mile.

Painter's Half - Went over my goal and finished in 2:03:54 :( It was my first half though.  I had a great time and learned what I need to work on.

Salt Lake Half Marathon - would like to finish in under 2 hours.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Would like to complete a full marathon in the fall of 2010 and finally conquer the Herriman Hill...to be honest, there are several hills in Herriman I'd love to conquer, but that one for sure!

Personal:

I am a stay-at-home mother, married and have two young boys.

Woke up early, saw the snow and decided to hop on the treadmill instead. Since I've had a bad cold and relatively high fever for the last 2-3 days, today was my first day running since the race on Saturday. After running for about a mile, I thought I was going to throw up...(after doing so later today, I've surrendered to the fact that I have the flu) so I decided to walk for another 2 miles at an incline. Ah! I hate being sick!!! I'm going to try to take it easy until I know for sure I'm at 100%.

On a good note, I did decide to register for the Salt Lake 1/2 in April! That's it! I'm committed now!!! I guess getting sick at the beginning of my training is better than getting sick somewhere in the middle or the end. If I feel better later in the week, I hope to do a couple of short runs and take it easy. Hopefully, I can begin my training schedule on Monday. Thanks to everyone who has taken me under their wing and given me such great advice! I really appreciate it!

YEA!! I'm so excited for you. The race will be great! only 18 months ago SLC was my 1st half, and now I've run 3 marathons. You will do GREAT! Kelli and I are always around and are good for a run if you'd like...and as you've now learned there is always the BBK group to join if you're up for early morning torture :)

I am so sorry that you are feeling sick, I hope the little kids do not get it!!! Take good care of yourself, lysol everything, and do not worry about running until you are 100%----that is an order from me. Since I am way older, I can order....

I am glad you decided to do the SL half. I LOVED it!!! Rachel and I had a grand time and we know where secret bathrooms are before the race, even if it makes you late to the start. It is chipped, so who cares?? You will love the downhill at the beginning, the crowds throughout the race, and you will pass everyone on the hill at the end because Herriman will leave you well prepared for hills!

I know you usually do the treadmill, but if your husband is ever home on a Saturday, let me know and we can head out. I just hope it gets a little warmer and less windy.
